The zūmo 660 is the latest in the Garmin motorcycle GPS lineup for almost three years, the zūmo 550, later joined by its now discontinued younger 450 sibling, occupied this unique user territory. The extremely popular zūmo (Spanish for “juice” or “squash” i.e., to get the most out of something) products are marketed under Garmin’s “On the Road” category that covers automotive, motorcycles, trucking and traffic services. Their innovative and comprehensive product listing provides something for virtually every application and lifestyle imaginable and their user base is truly global in nature. I have had two Garmin GPS that has never functioned properly since new and now 2 1/2 years down the track I say enough is enough, th GPS will go I the rubbish bin and I will use my iPhone for GPS,bluetooth music and phone calls which works perfectly. I rang up Garmin and they said send the unit in again at your expense and pay a service fee and we will look at it. There was never a problem with the unit charging, it was about the only thing that worked on the device. A weeks later Garmin returned the unit to me with a note saying we tested the unit and it charges OK so get an auto electrician to check the wiring on your bike. I thought finally Garmin were going to do the right thing. They agreed that there was a major problem with the unit and seeing I had so much trouble over such a long time they would fix the unit. Garmin Australia continued to give me the run around but finally said they would look at the unit so I took the unit 100km to their head office and showed them exactly what was wrong with the unit. I had cancer and an operation so didn't use it for a long time by this time the unit was out of warranty.
After returning the unit to Garmin 3 times they finally agreed the unit had a fault and replaced it under warranty.

If you want to use the Garmin for Bluetooth don't buy. Garmin just keep giving me the run around and I have read on forums people have exactly the same problems as me with different types of headsets. It is dangerous to to turning he GPS on and of and going to the media player to try and get reconnection whilst riding. Read more his is an intermittent problem and doesn't happen every time but will happen every time on a long trip. This is not a problem with the headset as I have tried three different headsets. Sometimes when it reconnects the quality of the sound is very poor. The only way to get it to work again is to switch the unit off and on again sometimes repeatedly to get it to work again. When listening to music on the media player it will intermittently cut in and out or stop completely when it does this voice for traffic directions will also stop.
I have had this unit for nearly a year and have had major problems with it when connected to my Scala G4 headset. Not good service.Īs my friends say the 590 isn't any better, I will not buy another Garmin when this ends its lifetime.

I had a few tips for Garmin, correcting their maps, and sent them a message. They don't offer lifetime for Southeast Asia. Updates works well, but thai maps are too expen. Now I am not using that function any more, but go straight from the phone to the helmet.īattery time is poor, so I have to have power supply within 40-50 minutes. The bluetooth was connected to my Samsung Galaxy S5, but hung up constantly. But sometimes it has a hickup and leads me away from the main road to some offroad track, - and back again. Switching between Thailand and Norway, it handles the maps and navigation very good.
